Position: Control Technician 4

Overview

The Control Technician 4 is responsible for the fabrication of control panels, field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration of field instruments, testing, analysis, documentation, and updating drawings of finished control panels. The technician is also responsible for the care of all M.C. Dean, Inc. provided tools, meters, and equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Following instructions, work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials and assembly sequence.
  • Performing sheet metal work, punching holes, wiring, painting, and welding.
  • Providing on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Following company procedures for materials and tools management.
  • Ensuring work is completed on schedule and quality standards are met.
  • Experience and Certification:

  • At least three years of shop experience and one year of electrical experience, with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within six months of hire and maintain it.
  • Pass background check and drug screening.
  • Work Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to interpret control circuits, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to select control components, read and prepare BOMs, and work according to NEC and UL508A standards.
  • Experience with control panel fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting, including Building Automation Systems (Distech, Siemens, Niagara).
  • Proficiency in wiring and testing PLCs, VFDs, and control components.
  • Use of testing equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized testers.
  • Understanding industrial automation and control schemes.
  • Tools Usage:

  • Power tools, drills, saws, punch sets, multimeters, Meggers, Hi-Pots, and other testing equipment.
  • Use of laptops with software for testing wiring and control components.
  • Physical Abilities:

  • Lifting at least 100 pounds, working at heights up to 60 feet, and climbing scaffolds and ladders.
  • Routine physical activities including walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching.
  • Good vision and communication skills in English.
