Clearance Requirement

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information. Ability to obtain & maintain HSPD & Secret, preferred HSPD‑12 & Secret Active.

License / Certification Requirement
  • Must be certified/licensed in pipe fitting, steam fitting or sprinkler systems and have a valid journeymen plumber’s license.
  • Master’s Plumber’s license issued by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission preferred.
  • Backflow Certified, highly preferable, or eligible and willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the assembly, installations, modifications, and reparations of all pipes and plumbing systems.
  • Maintain and upgrade plumbing equipment and piping.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing‑related equipment.
  • Report to the Shift Operating Engineer.
  • Install and/or repair various plumbing equipment (water heaters, drinking fountains, toilets, sinks, etc.) throughout the facility.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience and a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be certified/licensed in pipe fitting, steam fitting or sprinkler systems and have a valid journeymen plumber’s license.
  • Master’s Plumber’s license issued by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission preferred.
  • Backflow Certified, highly preferable, or eligible and willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Pay Range: USD $38.00 - $44.75 per year.
