Position Summary:

* The Electrician performs all necessary functions in the operation, preventative maintenance, installation, and repairs of all electrical systems and equipment throughout the hospital.

* Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.

* Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.

* Assists in isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, or testing lamp.

* Assists in mounting motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completing circuits according to diagram specifications.

* May dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.

* Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments

Shift:

Full-time, Day Shift (40 hours per week)

Sunday - Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Education/ Experience

* High School graduate or G.E.D.

* Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the field of electricity.
* - Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

* Licensure or Equivalency:
Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician or higher by the District of Columbia OR the ability to obtain a DC Journeyman License by Exam which has the following requirements:
* - 4 years' experience/8,000 hours
* - W2's/1099s/Tax records AND Employment Verification Letter AND NEC Code Class Certificate. Employment verification letters must be signed by a master-level licensee.
* - Must successfully pass the DC Exam within one year of starting employment to maintain position.

Salary Range:
Minimum $29.71/hour - Maximum $49.02/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
