Position Summary

Sr Mobile Diesel Technician – responsible for licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical diagnostics, and other duties. Acts as a consultant on the customer’s behalf and leads mobile diesel service teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation on company‑issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work and time allocation effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload photos, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS devices and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase orders, and RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain company issued service truck and conduct daily pre/post-trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess a set of hand tools necessary for required duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
  • Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining, or a DOT physical if card is less than 4 months.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
