$65,000/yr – $90,000/yr

A successful Digital Pioneers Academy Social Worker will ensure that all DPA students feel known, loved and respected. The Social Worker will be directly responsible for improving the academic performance and behavioral functioning of Digital Pioneer Academy’s students through counseling, home visits, direct intervention, and teacher consultation.

The School Social Worker will contribute to the development of a healthy, safe and caring environment by advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies. About the Role

The Social Worker will be directly responsible for improving the academic performance and behavioral functioning of Digital Pioneer Academy’s students through counseling, home visits, direct intervention, and teacher consultation.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment of Student, Family and School Needs:
    Effectively and appropriately assess and address the needs, characteristics and interactions of students, families, school leadership and community.
  • Direct Services/Service Delivery:
    Uses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via practices such as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention, and coordination of school and community services.
  • Advocacy:
    Advocates for appropriate services for students and their families.
  • Consultation and

    Collaboration:

    Consults and collaborates with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families.
  • Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation:
    Effectively plans, implements and evaluates programs that promote student and family success; serves as a case manager to students with identified special needs.
  • Accountability:
    Advocates, facilitates, and contributes to School Social Work accountability for outcomes aligned with local, state, and federal policies and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and all stakeholders involved in the IEP process.
  • Use clinical skills to provide group and individual counseling.
  • Provide crisis counseling to students and families experiencing mental health and/or social service emergencies.
  • Deliver behavior management and de‑escalation techniques to create a safe school environment for all students.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress in conjunction with the school support team.
Qualifications
  • MSW, LSW, or LCSW required.
  • CSSW required.
  • 2‑3 years’ experience in counseling and working with children and families.
  • Knowledge of community social service resources and how to access them.
  • Knowledge and cultural competence of the local student and parent community.
  • Comfort in a start‑up environment and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Understanding of current rules and regulations regarding child study teams, special education assessments and program requirements.
  • Unwavering commitment to our students and their success.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to invest stakeholders in student goals.
  • Ability to establish relationships with students and families at all costs.
  • Solution orientation and ability to bring a new lens to challenging problems.
