This is your chance to join an early-stage startup and deeply shape the future of our core products.
We’re looking for a software architect with AI coding expertise. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Washington, DC-metro area.
The candidate must have rock-solid fundamentals, preferably through a CS education, and enough experience shipping software and developer tools to know how to find the right level of abstraction for a given problem. You will have access to the latest AI and agentic coding tools, but you also need to know how to do the work at a high level without them.
Much of our code is written with AI coding agents. You’ll design the architecture, interfaces, and type contracts those agents work within, then review, test, and integrate their output into a coherent, secure, maintainable platform.
Bedrock Knowledge, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
We are looking for someone who:
- is an engineer or software architect with a minimum of 5 years of experience building software in a professional setting
- has hands-on experience directing AI coding agents on a real codebase, and integrating and reviewing their output, not just using autocomplete
- loves Typescript or other strongly-typed languages, and knows how and when to use the advanced features of the type system
- integrates systems and code from multiple engineers
- has opinions on REST, Websocket, and (g)
RPC frameworks, and experience delivering strongly-typed, versioned, documented APIs - architects federated service-oriented solutions that drive external customer engagement and enterprise growth
- isolates heavy transactional or computational workflows by embedding decoupled, event-driven messaging systems
- creates cloud infrastructure with precise rules for horizontal and vertical scaling using container orchestration platforms.
- demonstrates production experience utilizing cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) alongside container infrastructure like Docker
- has strong knowledge of in-memory key-value stores (e.g., Redis) alongside deep database indexing and query tuning
- has comprehensive skills with asynchronous event-streaming pipelines
- believes in the power of the Age of Lifelong Learning
- has the right to work in the United States
- lives in the Washington, DC metro area or is willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metro area
- Define module boundaries, interfaces, and strongly typed contracts that keep agent-generated code consistent
- Review and integrate agent-produced code, catching design drift, duplication, and subtle bugs before they reach production
- Maintain the specs, context files, and conventions that guide coding agents
- Build test coverage and CI/CD checks that act as guardrails for AI-generated changes
- Review agent output for security issues, such as unsafe input handling, authorization gaps, and leaked secrets
- Work collaboratively as part of a small team
