GENERAL OVERVIEW OF POSITION

Solano Community College is actively seeking highly qualified applicants for part-time adjunct teaching positions in the chemistry department. The successful candidate, meeting the minimum qualifications outlined below, will be responsible for teaching various areas of chemistry. Assignments will be available in the fall, spring, and summer terms. The ideal candidate can demonstrate a wide range of teaching strategies to facilitate effective student learning.

Also, we actively recruit for Spring 2026 and are particularly interested in experienced professionals with expertise in general chemistry, allied health chemistry, and beginning chemistry. The Chemistry Department is part of the Mathematics and Science Division of Solano Community College. Chemistry is an integral part of many degrees offered emost, is the AS degree in chemistry. Chemistry is also a required part of many other degrees including AS and AST degrees in biology, kinesiology, engineering, biotechnology, general science and biomedical science. It is also a requirement for the BS in Biomanufacturing offered at Solano Community College.

We want instructors who care about students, about pedagogy, and the future of our community. We are looking for an individual willing to take risks to achieve those goals.

Currently, our primary need is for a faculty member with expertise in the areas of beginning chemistry, general chemistry and chemistry for health sciences. The successful candidate will be able to teach different levels of chemistry courses including instruction in labs using a variety of instruments, and familiarity with the use of computer probes, data loggers and data analysis software.
