Solano Community College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for part-time counseling assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on‑going recruitment. Counseling assignments may include day, evening and weekend hours. Counseling schedule may include remote/online counseling, as well as on‑campus and off‑campus locations as part of contract assignment.

- Oral interviews will be conducted to include a teaching demonstration.
- Travel costs related to the interview are the responsibility of the candidates.
Provide academic and career counseling services to students within the EOPS/Next Up/Care programs. Conduct scheduled and drop‑in individual/group counseling sessions as assigned; maintain informational notes, student education plans, and reports as required by the Dean of Counseling and Dean of Financial Aid; conduct on‑campus and off‑campus counseling assignments; assist with student outreach/in‑reach presentations on a variety of topics; assist with orientation and recruitment programming;
maintain current knowledge of academic and career counseling techniques and information; attend required trainings and professional development; make appropriate student referrals to campus and public service agencies as necessary; serve as liaison person with assigned academic divisions, departments, or special areas; utilize a variety of computer software systems for career and academic counseling/teaching; and perform special duties as assigned.
Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. (
NOTE:
A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.) CCR 53410.1
AND EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987, shall: (1) have completed a minimum of nine (9) semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages. OR (2) Have completed six‑semester units or the equivalent of a college level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
AND In addition to the above, an EOPS counselor hired after October 24, 1987, shall have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages. If you do not possess the minimum qualifications exactly as stated above you must request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents at the time of submitting your application.
Equivalency is defined as possessing the general education for the degree and the major coursework for the degree. The equivalency request form shall be included in the application. Equivalency forms can be found ano.edu. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.
