Job Summary
Location:
District Wide (Steilacoom Historical School District No.
1). Position Type:
Temporary. Daily Pay: $200. Successful applicants will be expected to fulfill at least two (2) substitute jobs per month.
Substitute teachers are primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning of the assigned subject(s) following district approved curriculum, instruction and assessment practices. Primary responsibilities include student safety, appropriate collaboration, and attention to each student’s readiness to learn, including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. The employee may teach in a variety of elementary classrooms individually or in team teaching settings.
Qualifications- Incumbents must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
- Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college/university or currently in a student teaching role.
- Possess or qualify to attain a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
- Experience or skill in creating a caring classroom environment that is orderly, purposeful and facilitates student learning.
- Demonstrated skill or experience supporting and contributing to the success of students with disabilities.
- Understanding of how injustice or racial inequity may impact students and families experience with school.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid instruction, assessment and learning.
- Strong relationship building, networking skills to connect with community businesses and resources.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively under pressure, and remain flexible.
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
