Position: Smaartha Archaka (South Indian rituals / Aagama)
Location: BothellSummary: HTCC is seeking a Hindu Priest with specific qualifications. Role:
We are looking for a Hindu Priest with a cultural background and knowledge of South Indian regions, and familiarity with North Indian and other regional traditions.
Qualifications include:
At least 3 years of temple experience post-religious school, with proficiency in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. Knowledge of North Indian languages is a plus.Excellent communication skills in English, including email correspondence.General Requirements and Terms:
Discipleship in Smaartha or Shaivagama Shastra, with the ability to perform regular poojas across various traditions.Experience in conducting abhishekam, havan, and ceremonies such as weddings, naming, mundan, Shashti poorthi, and other rituals. Familiarity with festivals and special poojas like Sri Rama Navami, Navaratri, and others is desired.Expertise in Maha Ganapathi, Sri Rudra, Sri Gayathri, Sri Chandi, Vaastu Homam, and shanthi poojas.Skilled in singing bhajans, reciting Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam, and conducting pravachans. Familiarity with Vishnu Sahasranamam and Hanuman Chalisa is beneficial.Ability to perform all pooja rituals, annual ceremonies, shraddha, and cremation ceremonies if possible.Experience with Alankaarams and religious cooking for neivedhyam/bhog during festivals and rituals.Responsibility for temple garbha grihas and attending out-of-temple religious services as scheduled.Initial employment for 3 years (or less if on R-1 visa), with annual renewal based on performance.Salary and Benefits: Compensation will reflect qualifications and experience, including healthcare and accommodation. The HTCC is willing to sponsor an R-1 visa for the candidate but does not sponsor family members. A signed offer, contract, and agreement are required upon selection.
