Position Summary
Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Support students to develop daily living and behavioral skills. Assist staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, playgrounds, crosswalks, hallways or getting on and off a bus.
May be assigned to an individual student and matriculate with the student until education is completed.
Wage
$22.85 - $27.26 per hour DOE (Salaries are stated as an estimate only. Actual salary is confirmed only upon hire/job offer.)

Employees are paid the last working day of each month.
- Work with students with special needs.
- Assist students with assignments/projects, provide organizational help, restate directions or explain concepts.
- Provide physical assistance to complete tasks or assignments.
- Encourage and assist student participation and maintain focus on learning.
- Assist with motivation, behavior management, and positive verbal communication.
- Model appropriate social skills and redirect behavior as needed.
- Provide for physical, health and safety needs of students, which may include maneuvering, feeding, toileting, restraint, de-escalation, bus assistance, and teaching independent living skills.
- Provide delegated physical care under supervision of a registered nurse, which may include tube feeding, catheterization, or administering medication.
- Assist with implementation of student IEPs.
- Enter data, research information, document attendance, communicate with parents under the teacher 0supervision, and access email.
- Model appropriate behavior for students.
- Assist other personnel as needed.
- Support student management during emergencies (fire, medical, lockdown, etc.).
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Communicate essential information to parents, students, and colleagues in fluent English.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community.
- Report incidents to maintain student safety and a positive environment.
- Adhere to board policy, school guidelines, administrative rules, and directives.
- Punctuality and reliable job presence.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Positive student management strategies that promote student success.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to promote a positive environment.
- Proficiency in math, reading, and oral/written language skills.
- Adaptability, dependability, humor, and tolerance.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to professional growth and willingness to accept feedback.
- Meet Title 1 requirements for highly qualified (pass exam or have 72 college credit hours).
This position may be combined with other assignments depending on qualifications.

Noise level is usually moderate but can be higher during instruction. Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, fumes, or cleaning chemicals may occur. May be required to travel in school-owned or leased vehicles to supervise students.
