Basic FunctionsThis position is Non-Exempt. This position is multi-faceted and requires a highly independent, self-motivated individual with the overall responsibility for providing services to children and families in accordance with the Washington State Code (WAC). The service population includes families of 6 week old's and 4 year old's enrolled in the Nespelem Child Care Center, including infants and toddlers with a disability.
This position requires heavy fieldwork in reaching out to families and community partners with extensive record-keeping, tracking, reporting and follow-up required.
- Requires an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field AND teaching experience in an early learning setting, (preferred);
- OR CDA for infants and toddlers; AND 24 months teaching experience in an early learning setting.
- OR Possible trainee plan for motivated applicants.
- Requires nurturing qualities, patience, genuine empathy, calmness in emergency situations, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Requires knowledge and understanding of Early Childhood Education practices and developmental milestones.
- Requires knowledge of laws and regulations that apply to families and children, preferably in the birth to five populations.

- Requires knowledge and skills to work with a computer on a daily basis and for all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Requires strong skills to work as a team member, yet highly independent in completing their required job duties.
- Requires the ability to meet deadlines for reporting systems by use of varied tracking systems and be able to report out findings accordingly.
- Requires the ability to work with birth to three aged children and children with disabilities.
- Requires ability and willingness to work overtime hours as needed for parent activities.
- Requires demonstrated ability to speak publicly, and communicate in writing and oral form.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain a Food Handler’s permit, TB Test, and Health Clearance within ten (10) days of employment.
- Possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance (preferred).Must not have any conviction of a gross misdemeanor or felony.
- Must successfully clear an extensive Criminal History Background Inquiry that indicates no conviction(s) of crimes involving a child or other serious offenses.
- Continued employment is contingent upon clearance on an on-going basis.
- Must have maintained a substance free lifestyle for the last year (1) and continue maintaining this lifestyle during employment, and be willing to sign and adhere to the Tribes Substance Abuse Policy and the Child Care’s Healthy Lifestyle Policy in addition to submitting to program testing procedures.
Note:
Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
