Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Teacher, the Music LDE provides targeted, small-group or individualized music enrichment to Choir, Band, or Orchestra students. This role supports specialized areas and enhances readiness through focused skill development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Work directly with students, supporting their personal development by providing appropriate lessons tailored to students’ needs in one or more of the following: instrumental technique (e.g., brass, woodwind, strings), vocal range, sight-reading, or ensemble blend.
- Provide targeted support as defined by certified staff to identified individuals, encouraging greater social inclusion.
- Follow and support building, department, and district policies and procedures.
- Encourage and model expected behavior.
- Anticipate problem behaviors in order to minimize and de-escalate aggressive behavior of students who are acting out.
- Circulate within an assigned supervision area, as well as facilitate and direct activities in a positive way.
- Assist in maintaining safety, behavior, decorum, and order in the classroom.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with all members of the school community.
- Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, including communicating student progress in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for diversity among all members of the school/department or district community.
- Report to assigned duty areas promptly and reliably.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Participate in designated performances as requested
- Uphold district standards for student safety, inclusion, and professional conduct
- Attend training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and local policy developments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in musicand/or musical instruction—vocal or instrumental—extended to choir, band, or orchestra contexts.
- Experience working effectively with K–12 students in small-group or one-on-one settings.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly with music teachers, students, and other staff.
- Organizational skills sufficient to manage lesson planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Experience working with and engaging young people in youth activities.
- Ability to challenge students academically, to promote his or her academic discipline, and to create a learning environment that is positive for students.
- Ability to build relationships with children and redirect with authority when needed.
- Ability to work consistently and to contribute in a positive way.
- Skilled in communicating effectively with all staff, students, and as a team member, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with students in a warm and confident manner.
- Knowledge of student safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Knowledge of vulnerable groups and the challenges of working with children and young people.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand;
walk; sit; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity. The employee may also be required to work at elevated heights and climb ladders. The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.
