Central Region Office in Union Gap, WA. Must reside within commutable distance.
The salary listed includes 7.5% assignment pay due to required licensure.
Schedule- Eligible for telework and flexible schedule. First month full‑time in‑office; thereafter up to 90% telework.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist in the CRO Water Quality Industrial Unit, you will apply groundwater science to support permitting decisions, evaluate industrial discharges, and protect water quality across Washington.
- Support preparation and review of wastewater discharge permits (SWD & NPDES) for industrial facilities.
- Use hydrogeology/geology knowledge to assess submitted reports ensuring state and federal standards are met.
- Integrate groundwater quality standards into permits by interpreting monitoring data and contributing to compliance decisions.
- Collaborate with facility staff, consultants to address regulatory questions and provide guidance.
- Apply expertise to permit compliance inspections, document findings, and communicate results.
- Review and enhance internal/external guidance for land treatment practices with other Ecology hydro geologists.
- Valid Washington State Hydrogeologist specialty license.
- 9 years of experience and/or education in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely allied professions (per equivalency table).
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
- Strong oral and written communication of complex issues.
- Familiarity with groundwater analysis and land treatment at industrial facilities.
