Position Summary

In this role, the Quality Engineer 2 will ensure that all design, production, and quality processes for aircraft components and systems comply with customer and regulatory quality requirements. The Quality Engineer will partner closely with the customer, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to drive process improvements, troubleshoot quality issues, and maintain robust documentation.

Reporting Relationships

The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, implement, update, monitor, and assure compliance with QMS policies and procedures.
  • Monitor QMS policies and procedure's effectiveness through teamwork and statistical methods; recommend improvements; support QMS training.
  • Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Implement and lead quality improvement efforts across cross‑functional areas.
  • Lead program and audit corrective actions with root‑cause analysis, metrics, proposed solutions, and closure reporting.
  • Serve as the point‑of‑contact for internal and external quality‑related issues.
  • Support customer and third‑party (i.e., AS9100) audits and provide audit reports as required.
  • Provide training and mentorship to quality personnel and cross‑functional teams on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and best practices.
  • Familiarize and attain proficiency with continuous‑improvement methods and implementation.
  • May occasionally perform special projects; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure quality standards are in place.
Required Skills
  • Competent in the use and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) methods.
  • Solid understanding of common inspection measuring equipment including, but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gauges, radius gauges, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Well versed in ISO/AS9100, NASCAP, APQP, PPAP quality requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with statistical process control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and root‑cause analysis tools.
  • Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage projects and utilize metrics/ KPIs to drive action.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and an ability to work proactively in a teamwork environment.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others.
  • Attention to detail.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years in manufacturing quality roles.
  • 5+ years in the aerospace manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of how MRP/ERP systems work.
  • Advanced computer program skills with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Level of Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
