Job SummaryThe Operational Technology Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, security, and continuous improvement of OT systems and infrastructure across the mining site. This strategic, hands‑on role ensures reliable process automation, effective real‑time monitoring, robust cybersecurity, and smooth integration between OT and IT platforms. The OT Lead manages technology teams, supports operations, and drives innovation in automation, digitalization, and safety.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead site OT team(s) in the deployment, administration, and maintenance of industrial network systems for mining operations.
- Develop and enforce OT policies and standards, particularly those related to industrial cybersecurity, system resilience, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee technical planning for upgrades, expansions, commissioning, and integration of new automation technologies or platforms.
- Coordinate and guide troubleshooting, incident response, and performance optimization for OT systems, providing hands‑on leadership as needed.
- Interface with operational, maintenance, engineering, and corporate teams to ensure reliable data flow, business continuity, and process efficiencies.
- Manage external vendors, contractors, and technology partners in system procurement, project delivery, and ongoing support.
- Ensure all OT infrastructure, endpoints, and networks are current, secure, and meet industry best practice for availability and cyber defense.
- Maintain rigorous documentation on configurations, incidents, upgrades, compliance, and risk assessments.
- Plan and deliver training for site personnel on OT systems operation, safety, and incident management.
- Monitor industry trends in mining automation, cyber‑physical systems, and process control, proposing innovations to improve site productivity and risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related discipline.
- 7+ years’ experience in OT/ICS administration for heavy industrial or mining operations, including team/project leadership.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial control systems (e.g., SCADA, PLC, DCS), industrial networking, and automation protocols.
- Demonstrated expertise in OT cybersecurity, safety standards, and risk assessment.
- Proficient in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning of process automation systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills for cross‑functional team management.
- Ability to work on‑site, travel for projects, and participate in remote monitoring or emergency response as needed.
- Experience in vendor management, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Has a strong commitment to safe working practices.
