Due to the public‑facing and media-sensitive nature of this position, and its frequent access to internal police operations, the background process mirrors that of other law enforcement support roles such as Police Support Officer.

What Will You Do in This Position?- Provide crisis communication support as needed – on‑call outside normal hours, including extended shifts, weekends, and holidays during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Develop and manage public communications – plan, design, and implement communications and public information programs, including news releases, social media messaging, videos, PSAs, and outreach campaigns.
- Create multimedia and marketing content – produce content for various platforms (internet, TV, radio) to support crime prevention, public safety, and community engagement initiatives.
- Lead social media strategy – recommend and manage the Police Department’s ongoing social media approach to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging public messaging.
- Maintain Police Department website content – serve as the primary content manager for the Police Department’s webpages; ensure content remains current and informative.
- Collaborate with the City Communications Team – coordinate closely with the City’s Communications Team to align messaging and maintain consistent public information across departments.
- Build relationships with media outlets – establish and maintain professional connections with local traditional and non‑traditional media to enhance public outreach and media coverage.
- Learn and adapt to new tools and systems with ease to support work efficiency.
- Consistently deliver accurate, high‑quality work with attention to detail.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally across a variety of settings.
