Auxiliary Volunteer

Auxiliary Volunteers are essential and much appreciated in our hospital. They are often the first point of contact for patients and visitors. Currently, Auxiliary Volunteers are assigned to the Information Desk and to Admitting.

• Greet all patients and visitors
• Assist those in need and offer wheelchairs as appropriate
• Transport wheelchair patients to their destinations
• Answer and transfer telephone calls
• Provide general information and directions, escort patients when able
• Deliver mail and floral arrangements to patients and staff
• Assist staff with various tasks and perform clerical duties as needed

• Must be 18 years or older
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Positive, service-oriented attitude
• Organizational and telephone skills
• Physical ability to walk, stand, push wheelchairs
• English communication skills; bilingual is a plus
• Good personal hygiene

• Lifting up to 10 pounds
• Pushing wheelchairs and carts
• Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching
• Climbing stairs when elevators are unavailable

Volunteers typically work 4 shifts per month; more shifts are appreciated and needed.
