Quality Assurance Inspector (Washington, Indiana)
Grain Processing Corporation, a member of the KENT Worldwide family of companies, is looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team in Washington, Indiana. The role involves collecting and delivering samples to the laboratory for routine analysis across all product areas. Additional duties include pulling extra samples as directed, aseptically preparing samples, performing routine inspections, and promptly reporting any issues to the Shift Supervisor or Manager of Analytical Services.

PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver samples to the lab according to the inspectors’ sampling schedule.
- Obtain environmental and process water recovery samples and deliver them to the lab according to the inspectors’ sampling schedule.
- Obtain reprobes when necessary.
- Measure river temperature once per week.
- Prepare and pull aseptic samples for micro analysis.
- Follow good sampling procedures and maintain excellent organizational skills to prioritize workload.
- Perform monthly Sanitation Audits as scheduled by the Manager of Analytical Services.
- Inspect firewater pump and alcohol loadout twice per shift and record times in the electronic log.
- Report any issues or observations that may impact product quality to the Manager of Analytical Services.
- Inspect the lab vehicle once per shift, report any issues in the electronic log, and check levels weekly.
- Inspect the pipe rack to prevent starch leaks and record findings in the shift log.
- Maintain a detailed electronic log of activities, problems, or issues for each shift.
- Sign for samples received where applicable.
- Use LIMS to log received samples and record river temperature results.
- Record all data in compliance with cGMPs.
- Submit accurate monthly department time charges to the Manager of Analytical Services.
- Be able to train new inspectors as needed.
- Follow all lab and plant safety rules, report safety issues, and propose improvements.
- Attend all safety meetings, practice good housekeeping, and maintain good communication with employees.
- Maintain sample library according to the retain schedule.
- Dump waste feed, starch, and alcohol products in designated areas at the end of each shift.
- Wash alcohol bottles when needed and deliver to the alcohol department upon request.
- Add steep water to the sanitary once per shift.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs multiple times during the shift.
- Ability to work safely at elevated levels.
- Dependable, reliable, detail‑oriented, and organized.
- Good PC skills (e‑mail, Word, Excel, internet) and ability to learn basic LIMS functions.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with little or no supervision.
Prior manufacturing or quality assurance experience is desired but not required.
Schedule & Other Requirements- Willingness to work a rotating 12‑hour shift that includes days and nights.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and be on‑call for sick coverage.
- Overtime required to cover vacancies, vacations, and training.
- Regular attendance required.
