Monday - Friday (8:00 am – 5:45 pm) and Saturday mornings (8:15 am – 12:15 pm). Average of 40 hours/week.

Training and Career PathWhen starting as a Teller at Hills Bank, you will enter a designated career path and detailed training program. The path begins with foundational teller training, progresses through advanced teller components and additional bank areas. You will shadow an experienced co‑worker, then be shadowed until you feel comfortable and confident to provide quality service to Hills Bank customers.
ScopeThe teller is responsible for servicing customers with deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, credit card transactions, and money order sales. You will balance daily cash, maintain compliance with teller regulations, and refer customers to other departments as appropriate.
Accountabilities- Provide exceptional customer service and consistently receive the highest service standards.
- Process checking and savings account transactions, mortgage and consumer loan payments, credit card transactions, and other customer services.
- Issue checks, money orders, and bank checks; redeem bonds and assist customers with additional services.
- Verify and note significant information, following bank policy and procedures.
- Maintain favorable customer relationships through proper handling of collections and disbursements.
- Exercise discretion, good judgment, and initiative in all customer interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer account information.
- Open night deposit vault, log contents, and process deposits with dual control.
- Assist customers with safe deposit boxes, ensuring proper procedures.
- Comply with laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and privacy policies.
- Answer telephone inquiries and assist staff with account status, statements, and charges.
- Maintain adequate working funds and verify daily cash drawer balances.
- Assist supervisor in reconciling errors or discrepancies.
- Purchase working money supply as needed.
- Count and verify currency.
- Support overall sales effort and cross‑sell services to meet customer needs.
- Advise customers on promotional items and refer to appropriate departments.
- Participate in bank promotional events and product campaigns.
- Use the bank’s CRM system to personalize interactions and manage referral opportunities.
- Adhere to customer service standards via the Voice of the Customer program.
- Assist in supporting other bank activities as requested.
- Participate in community activities throughout the year to support corporate citizenship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements
- Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in a related retail cash handling position.
- Computer and office equipment proficiency.
- Dexterity to count money and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Complete all required training and evaluation for progression from Teller 1 to Teller 3.
- Participate in at least 3 bank‑sponsored or community events annually.
