Location: Algona

Position Summary

The Machinist Position operates assigned resources of machining tools and equipment, ensuring safety of operations, compliance with quality control standards, and meeting productivity targets. The machinist continually troubleshoots and problem‑solves production processes to ensure products meet or exceed all manufacturing set‑up and cycle times.

Shift

Weekend Nights:
Friday–Sunday, 4:30 pm–5:00 am. 36 hours worked, 40 hours paid. $5.00 per hour shift differential.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand, adhere to, and demonstrate the company’s commitment to safety and quality.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to shift times or a pre‑arranged work schedule.
  • Able to run multiple types of machines.
  • Perform setup and production for machine cells and standalone CNC mills.
  • Proficiency with multiple machine and control types.
  • Set up the first part on machine as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Run the first part after completion of machine set‑up.
  • Verify program is stable and part is within tolerance for run.
  • Verify all set‑up documentation is correct and adequate for part run.
  • Complete MIP sheet for first part.
  • Ensure correct work orders, programs, and documents are being used for current operation.
  • Help troubleshoot basic production problems.
  • When not assigned a set‑up or performing production or as assigned by supervisor, spot‑check parts and deburr finished product.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Clean the machine at the end of each shift; organize all parts and tools for the job for the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of related experience; experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to meet expectations for required competencies including: safety, health, and environmental awareness; business ethics and compliance; technical/professional competence and quality/time management; interpersonal relations and communication skills; initiative, flexibility, innovation, and adaptability; continuous improvement and problem solving; planning and organizing.
  • Proficient at reading and understanding M and G code.
  • Ability to read precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read shop production blueprints.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions during production and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Basic understanding of machine set‑up.
  • Machine shop experience and/or on‑the‑job training.
  • Self‑motivated with an ability to work alone or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work across departments to meet product quality standards efficiently.
  • Ability to follow instructions given by the operations manager, lead, or senior machinist and carry them out correctly.
  • Ability to interpret instructions given and apply experience and training throughout the course of the day for each production job assigned.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret the English language.
  • Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others.
Physical Activities Required To Perform Responsibilities
  • Stand continually, walk regularly, sit continually, hear/listen regularly, climb and/or balance infrequently, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally, twist occasionally at the trunk or neck, bend occasionally, reach with hands and arms regularly, taste and use sense of smell infrequently, use hands to manipulate, handle and/or feel in the act of performing required responsibilities.
  • Lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work, clarity with distance, distinction with color, peripheral observation up and down/left and right, depth perception for distance and spatial relationships, sharp focus of objects brought into line of sight.
  • Mental dexterity needed to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay range: $26.50 – $53.00 USD, based on a variety of factors. Eligibility to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan with a factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple based on performance. Employees receive 120 hours paid time off annually and 10 paid holidays. Medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance available. Employees may enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
