We value curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement—and we’re looking for talented people who are hungry for growth and eager to make an impact.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of new products, improve existing systems, and mentor junior engineers. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams—including manufacturing, product management, and operations—to ensure high-quality, cost‑effective, and innovative solutions reach our customers.

This position requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, and the ability to think strategically while still being hands‑on in design and problem solving.

Who We Want
  • Passionate Innovator – Desire to learn and try new things. Willingness to challenge the status quo and to develop future standard designs and processes.
  • Detail‑Oriented Process Improver – Critical thinker who naturally sees opportunities to develop and optimize work processes – finding ways to simplify, standardize, and automate.
  • Diligent Task Manager – Skilled at leveraging a cross‑functional team to drive innovation. Ability to plan your own schedule, communicate that schedule, and maintain it.
  • Proactive Problem Solver – Strong drive to identify issues in design or process and work toward root‑cause resolution.
  • Humble Learner – Open to feedback and willing to acknowledge failures, learn from them, and communicate those learnings to the team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems.
  • Apply engineering principles to improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct design verification, troubleshooting, and peer reviews to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
  • Oversee project planning, budgeting, and execution for engineering initiatives.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and associates.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive product development from concept through production.
  • Utilize CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD) and PDM systems (Vault, Syte Line) to manage designs and documentation.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and process optimization.
Senior‑Level Competencies at Clemco
  • Design Verification & Quality – Effective peer reviews and product validation.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) – Optimize products for manufacturability, cost, and serviceability.
  • Troubleshooting – Advanced skills in diagnosing and solving complex product issues.
  • Project Management – Experience in planning, executing, and closing engineering projects.
  • Leadership & Mentorship – Provide technical direction and support to engineers and associates.
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement – Bronze, Silver, or higher Lean training/certification; ability to lead RIE (Rapid Improvement Events).
  • Technical Expertise – Structural design (materials, metallurgy), Design for X (quality, cost, serviceability), airflow control systems (ventilation, pneumatics).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 6+ years of engineering experience, with demonstrated success in product design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, structural analysis, materials selection, and systems integration.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Inventor, AutoCAD) and FEA tools.
  • Experience with manufacturing methods, assembly processes, and Design for X.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience strongly preferred.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Professional development opportunities, including Clemco University and Lean certifications.
