We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Project Engineer specializing in wastewater and water engineering to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of preliminary design, final design, and construction administration engineering of wastewater and water infrastructure projects, with a focus on small-scale treatment plants, pumping systems and collection / distribution system upgrades for both public and private facilities. This position will be responsible for delivering multidisciplinary projects and overseeing design teams. Successful candidate will work with other mid-senior engineers to coordinate workload allocation at the project level and provide progress updates on project status.

This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior staff, develop client relationships, and contribute to projects that enhance environmental protection and public health.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare design calculations, technical reports, process designs, permit applications, engineering plans and specifications for the preliminary and final design of wastewater and water facilities, including treatment facilities, lift stations and booster stations, and collection and distribution systems.

Lead project engineering work for wastewater and water infrastructure projects from initial planning and conceptual design through construction administration, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Participation in and leading of project teams.
  • Coordination of work activities of technical staff and consultants.
  • Tracking project schedules and reporting status.
  • Providing direction and guidance and mentoring project staff.
  • Perform hydraulic analysis.
  • Conducting quality assurance and quality control on work products.
  • Participating in constructability reviews and operability reviews.
  • Assists PM in planning, coordinating and execution.
  • Develops technical approach, scopes for work, schedules and fees for proposals and contracts with clients and consultants under guidance of PM.
  • Work closely with PMs to gain project management experience.
  • Conduct site assessments, field inspections, and troubleshooting issues related to construction, process, and equipment.
  • Stay current with industry advancements in wastewater treatment technologies and process design, participating in relevant conferences or training to enhance team capabilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 6-12 months.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in wastewater engineering, including hands‑on work with small‑scale systems, treatment plants, process design, and pump stations for public and private facilities.
  • Proven ability to perform complex design tasks, including hydraulic analysis, process design, and construction documents for municipal or industrial wastewater or water infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational, problem‑solving, and task management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% for site visits and client meetings.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as EPA guidelines, state requirements, and NPDES permitting processes for wastewater treatment.
  • Familiarity with business development practices, including proposal writing and client management for wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices, such as water reuse, energy‑efficient treatment, and resilient infrastructure design.
