Chief High School Equivalency (HSE) Examiner
The Division of Continuing Education is seeking a permanent part-time Chief High School Equivalency (HSE) Examiner within the College and Career Readiness division. The College & Career Readiness program offers adult learners the opportunity to obtain necessary skills to become viable citizens in the workforce and the community. The HSE Examiner will administer HSE tests; interpret HSE policies and clarify procedures for administering tests;
and assists with coordination of reporting functions for College and Career Readiness. HSE tests administered at Beaufort County Community College include the Pearson GED and ETS HiSET exams. This part-time position reports to the Director of College & Career Readiness.

Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution. - Work Experience:
Professional experience in teaching and/or standardized assessment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting functions.
- Prepares and administers the GED and HiSET High School Equivalency exams, both computer-based and paper-based, using the provided testing standards.
- Provide special testing accommodations for students with learning, physical, or emotional disabilities.
- Inventory and maintain testing materials in a secured manner, as set forth in the HiSet and GED policies and procedures.
- Schedules High School Equivalency testing at satellite locations, including Tyrrell Prison Work Farm and Hyde Correctional Institute.
- Assists in coordination of monthly reporting functions for the College and Career Readiness department.
- Assists in student recruitment and retention efforts. Follow up on all initial student contacts to encourage registration in appropriate classes.
- Assists in New Student Orientation and Assessment Pre/Post testing.
- Assists in Career Advising Plans of College and Career Readiness students.
- Assists in ordering of instructional and office supplies using the NC eProcurement system.
- Assist Director of College and Career Readiness with annual graduation ceremony, instructor contracts, payroll, creating instructor supply packets, and the ordering of instructional and office supplies.
- Market and promote CCR programs through contact of key individuals and organizations in the community. Assist with the creation and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
- Works closely with College and Career Readiness staff to collect, evaluate, and input student LEIS data into the state data system, ADVANSYS and/or Ellucian Colleague.
- Demonstrates knowledge of National Reporting System and NCCCS assessment policies and metrics for the achievement of Measurable Skill Gains (MSGs).
- Provides professional development sessions to other community college staff and faculty as needed focusing on high school equivalency testing and the College and Career Readiness program.
- Maintain student, instructor, and staff confidentiality. Consistently monitor work area to ensure instructor and student data is being protected according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. Participate in annual FERPA training.
- Adapt and respond to a changing work environment in a positive manner. Multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism as a representative of the college.
