Summary:
The Division of Continuing Education is seeking a part‑time College & Career Readiness Instructor at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm in Columbia, NC. Classes focus on helping students acquire the academic and life skills that will lead toward a high school equivalency diploma and a positive transition to post‑secondary training and careers. The purpose of the position is to increase the educational level of adults through instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies and communication skills.
The classes will be held during the day, Monday through Thursday. This position reports to the Director of College & Career Readiness. Please note, any offers of employment are contingent upon approval of the Tyrrell Prison Work Farm Warden.
Location: Tyrrell Prison Work Farm in Columbia, NC
Type of Position: Continuing Education Instructor – Part Time
Terms of Employment: Contracted Term
Estimated Hours per Week: up to 24 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
- Ability to obtain and maintain NC Department of Public Safety (prisons) security clearance
- MS Office skills
- Experience teaching adult learners or in a secondary/post‑secondary educational environment
- Master’s Degree in adult education or related field
