TRIO Student Support Services is a student-centered community designed to help students connect, grow, persist, graduate, and prepare for what comes next.
Based in the Dorothy Jordan Center, the Student Development Coordinator provides advising, programming, and student development support to TRIO participants. As a key member and visible representative of the TRIO program, the Coordinator builds relationships with students and serves as a face of TRIO across campus and in the community.
Working collaboratively with the TRIO team, campus partners, and community stakeholders, the Coordinator helps students navigate college, connect with resources, and make progress toward their academic, career, and transfer goals.
Grant funded position – Position available contingent upon funding.

Minimum QualificationsEducation
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, educational leadership, social work, psychology, human services, or a closely related field.
- Professional experience in higher education, student services, advising, student success, counseling, coaching, educational programming, or a related setting.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build positive professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 or comparable productivity and collaboration tools.
- Experience with or ability to learn student information and student-support systems.
- Ability to use early-alert, learning management, advising, and database systems.
- Ability to accurately maintain and retrieve student and program data.
- Experience with Blumen or a comparable student-support database is preferred.
- Experience with TRIO or another federally funded student-support program.
- Experience in a community college or higher education setting.
- Experience with academic advising, coaching, retention, or transfer services.
- Experience planning and facilitating student programs and activities.
- Experience supporting first-generation students, students with financial need, or students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of FERPA and student-record practices.
- Demonstrated ability to represent a program professionally and build relationships with students, campus partners, and community stakeholders.
- Provide individual and group advising to TRIO participants.
- Assist students with academic, career, financial, and transfer planning.
- Develop and review individualized Educational Plans with students.
- Monitor academic progress and respond to early alerts and student concerns.
- Provide proactive outreach and follow-up to support student persistence.
Connect students with appropriate college and community resources.
Support TRIO recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and student engagement.
Plan and facilitate workshops, events, and student development activities.
Coordinate cultural, career, leadership, and transfer experiences.
