RN Critical Access – Emergency Department, 0.9 FTE, Nights at PIMC

Peace Health is seeking a RN to serve in our Critical Access hospital’s Emergency Department on a full‑time, 0.90 FTE night schedule.

The RN provides professional patient care, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and ensures safe, high quality care in a busy ED.

Essential Functions
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers; communicate and prioritize while safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with physicians and leadership to deliver patient care and problem‑solve within the department.
  • Assure continuous patient care including, but not limited to, overseeing the stocking of supplies, medications, and patient care items; staff breaks and lunches; timeliness of patient flow throughout the department and ancillary departments.
  • Perform limited x‑ray examinations, point‑of‑care testing and other procedures as determined, applying appropriate infection control and radiation safety.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives through data gathering, staff education and monitoring using the organization’s recommended tools.
  • Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Perform patient transport functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Setting.
  • Demonstrated competency to perform procedures.
  • Successfully complete the non‑violent crisis intervention training in orientation and renew training as outlined in policy.
Credentials
  • Registered Nurse in state of practice.
  • Upon Hire Basic Life Support.
  • ACLS, WA Food Handlers card required at date of hire or transfer.
  • ENPC, TNCC, PALS required within 1 year of hire.
Core Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required).
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment (Required).
  • Able to support and interpret clinic’s philosophy, policies and procedures (Required).
  • Ability to balance information regarding patient needs, staff needs, and medical center needs in decision making (Required).
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills (Required).
  • Strong organizational skills (Required).
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Required).
Working Conditions
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull:
    Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., medical carts).
  • Perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 minutes using 100‑125 lbs. of force. Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non‑patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
