Department/Role: OB RN – L&D, Antepartum & Postpartum
Shift: 12-hour shifts (6a–6:30p / 6p–6:30a) | Set schedules, typically blocked | Every other weekend, holidays as needed Beds & Volume: 2 L&D rooms; postpartum uses acute care beds; ~50–60 births/year
Experience:
Minimum 1 year; must be comfortable on Acute Med Surg floors and with neonatal/OB care
Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, NRP, EFM (intermediate required, advanced preferred) Patient Care: 1:1 ratio (may be 1:2) | Common diagnoses:
Diabetes, GDM, AMA, minimal high-risk; RNs titrate drips (Insulin, Magnesium) Additional Info: OBs on-site during day; on-call after hours (within 20 min) | Anesthesia on call | RNs monitor patients on mag;
Fetal Link EFM system | Scrubs: clean & professional | 1-day unit-specific orientation
