Travel Registered Nurse
- Outpatient Clinic

Position Summary

The Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse provides direct patient care, clinical assessment, and care coordination in an ambulatory setting. The RN delivers evidence-based nursing care in accordance with Washington State nursing scope of practice. Responsibilities include triage, patient education, clinical procedures, and support of providers to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Support
  • Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, history, medication review, and symptom evaluation.
  • Provide direct clinical care such as wound care, injections, immunizations, point-of-care testing, IV starts (if applicable), and specimen collection.
  • Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Triage patients in person and by phone, using clinical judgment to determine appropriate care pathways.
  • Implement standing orders and protocols in compliance with Washington State Nursing Commission standards.
Care Coordination
  • Coordinate patient care plans, follow-up appointments, referrals, and diagnostic testing.
  • Communicate results, care instructions, and treatment plans to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support smooth clinic operations.
Patient Education
  • Educate patients on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
  • Provide teaching on self-care, wound care, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Document all patient care, assessments, interventions, and communications accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintain compliance with Washington State Board of Nursing practice standards, OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure proper medication and vaccine storage, handling, and inventory management according to state and federal guidelines.
Clinical Safety & Professional Practice
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and perform appropriate interventions when needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment following infection prevention protocols.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain required competencies and continuing education for RN licensure in Washington.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington .
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient or ambulatory care setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of prior nursing experience in outpatient, primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, specialty clinic, or urgent care.
  • Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth).
  • Experience with population health, care management, or patient triage.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) depending on clinic specialty.
