GET PAID TO MAINTAIN BEAUTIFUL SPACES! The City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department is hiring temp seasonal Park Grounds and Facility Worker NATURE OF WORK:
The Park Grounds & Facility Worker is responsible for watering, cleanliness, vegetation management, sports field maintenance and general upkeep of green spaces and hardscapes in the Right of Way and all park areas outside of Riverfront Park, Manito Park, Finch Arboretum and Golf Courses. Work is conducted in teams or individually and assignments may be routine in nature or vary depending on your team and tier assignment.
Responsibilities and pay vary as shown below. The Park and Grounds Caretaker has the option of working at various City parks with the Park Operations Department. The following Responsibilities and Requirements are functions the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
- Maintains and cleans restrooms and picnic facilities.
- Operates small, motorized, hand‑held landscaping equipment, including line‑trimmer, power edger, and blower.
- Ability to see, with or without corrective lenses, well enough to read fine print such as instructions in standard text.
- Ability to hear, with or without a hearing aid.
- Enough body mobility to walk and stoop to perform landscaping duties.
- Tolerance to work under adverse conditions such as outdoors in heat and cold.
- $17.13 to $18.75 per hour.
- Trash and bathroom cleaning.
- General grounds upkeep.
- $18.25 - $20.75 per hour.
- Above duties from G/F Worker I.
- Gardening & in‑park caretakers.
- Handheld & power equipment operation (line trimmer, hedgers, edger, backpack blower, push blowers, rakes, shovels, etc.).
- Ball field prep and field lining.
- $20.25 - $23.75 per hour.
- Above duties from G/F Worker I and II.
- Mowers & small tractors operation, trailering equipment, work group leader.
HOURS:
- The season typically runs April through October.
- Hours and days of work vary, part‑time and full‑time schedules available.
- Many locations and work assignments will require weekends and holidays.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess a current driver’s license.
- Requires frequent interaction with the public.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs depending on job assignment.
