Position Summary
- The Supplier Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials and finished product.
- The Supplier Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, implement, update, monitor, and assure compliance with QMS policies and procedures.
- Work with suppliers to improve their quality and OTD as needed.
- Audit suppliers either on‑site or through desk audits.
- Recommend approvals and/or denials of suppliers' quality systems.
- Work directly with Purchasing to select or improve suppliers.
- Document supplier performance.
- Monitor QMS policies and procedures effectiveness through teamwork and statistical methods; recommend improvements; support QMS training.
- Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction; ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Implement and lead quality improvement efforts across cross‑functional areas.
- Support program and audit corrective action with root cause analysis, metrics, proposed solutions, and closure reporting.
- Support internal and external quality related issues.
- Support customer and 3rd party (i.e., AS9100) audits and provide audit reports as required.
- Instruct team members in product conformity practices.
- Familiarize and attain proficiency with continuous improvement methods and implementation.
- May occasionally perform special projects; perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Competent in the use and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) methods
- Solid understanding of common inspection measuring equipment including, but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
- Improvement skills – Lean, CI, RCCA, audit
- Well versed in ISO/AS9100 quality requirements
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage projects and utilize metrics/KPIs to drive action
- Excellent verbal and written skills and an ability to work proactively in a teamwork environment
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
- Attention to detail
- 4+ years in manufacturing quality roles
- 4+ years in the aerospace manufacturing industry preferred
- Thorough understanding of how MRP/ERP systems work
- Advanced computer program skills with MS Word, Excel and Power Point
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
- ASQ-CQA preferred
- Must be able to travel up to a week at a time.
- Travel time – 10–25%
$90,000.00/yr – $/yr
