Why we need you and what you'll be responsible for:

With a record backlog of high performance, aluminum boats to build for the military and first responders, SAFE Boats need experienced Aluminum Welders/Fabricators to apply their expertise to our amazing products. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day support and production and operations at SAFE Boats with a focus on facilities. Operating equipment on and off the shop floor, including cranes and lifts.

This position works outside 25-50% of the time.

Why we need you and what you'll be responsible for:
  • Operates cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery
  • Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing device.
  • Supports the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment from basic welding and hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery and cranes, performing both electrical and mechanical work
  • Recognizes improper tool function and takes corrective action with safety in mind
  • Performs load testing - including placement and use of chain binders, chain falls, load cell/dyno meter, lifting swings, ratchet straps, winches, blocks
  • Moves items and equipment, trailers, pallets, carts, jigs, etc.
  • Operates a variety of vehicles (CDL License a plus)
  • Transports and loads out a variety of items including parts, equipment, furniture, building materials, etc.
  • Assists with facility related efforts such as loading of boats, load testing, sea trails with other departments in the organization
  • Conducts general facility tasks such as painting, office/furniture moves, minor misc. repairs, hose repair, minor plumbing repair, yard maintenance, etc.
  • Performs minor electrical repair and maintenance on wall switches, outlets, sockets & ballasts
  • Removes rubbish and recycled material throughout the production facility as needed
  • Restocks paper products and cleans facility restrooms as needed
  • Completes tasks within expected timelines with quality outcome/results
  • Identifies additional resources as needed
  • May perform janitorial, landscape, and basic construction tasks to meet the needs of the business
  • Participates in regular meetings, prioritizes maintenance work.
  • Documents work performed and communicates to necessary departments/parties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What we need from you: (Required Skills)
  • Two or more years of experience working in a facilities and maintenance department, preferably in manufacturing
  • Two or more years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and conducting minor repairs on tools, machinery, and equipment
  • Able to read and interpret basic technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Basic Math/tape measure reading skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Computer skills including Outlook and Word, software programs related to equipment maintenance and capabilities a plus
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize with follow-through to completion of tasks
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people, such as Managers, Team Members, guests, vendors, and customers.
  • A strong background (work history) in any area specializing in plumbing, industrial equipment, electrical and mechanical repair, carpentry or automotive and experience with heavy equipment maintenance is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
