Position: EQUIPMENT CLEANER with Security Clearance
Location: Bangor

Duties
* You will operate various types of equipment to pump sanitary material, fuel, oil, and contents of tanks and bilges on various marine vessels, such as; tugboats, barges, surface craft, and submarine.
* You will determine proper cleaning methods of metal surfaces by use of hand and/or mechanical means (i.e. scraping, scaling, chemical removal).
* You will exercise care during the cleaning process to prevent damage to intact paint surfaces, wire ways, piping, damping tiles, transducers, TLI's, etc.
* You will make recommendations to alter chemical mixtures for sanitizing tanks, parts washers, and high-pressure steamers based on a general knowledge of their applications.
* You will read and interpret blueprints, Submarine Maintenance Standards, Naval Ships' Technical Manuals, and follows strict instruction requirements while pumping, cleaning, and maintaining spill containments.
* You will set up and maintain temporary vacuum systems, adjusting pumps to assure proper flow, and performs preventive maintenance of pumps to prevent any spills.
* You will install protective covering to guard against abrasive blasting, damage to shipboard tanks, internal parts, tank level indicators, and piping systems.
* You will process Form 6340/1 for foreign material waste disposal on the hazardous waste generation record. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You are willing and able to work an uncommon tour of duty (may include weekend, nights, overtime, or holidays).
* You are willing and able to accept a "Severe Weather Essential" position. This requires continued performance of duties and responsibilities during periods of severe weather conditions.
* You are willing to accept that you may be required to return to work during severe weather conditions.
* This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding. I am willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
* You are willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 70 pounds in weight.
* You may be required to working from uncomfortable and cramped positions which involve stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and twisting. You are willing and able to work under regular and recurring physical activity.
* You are willing and able to work onboard ships.
* You are willing and able to work in small and/or confined spaces.
