Do you love Arlington? Do you love sports? And do you believe every kid should have the opportunity to play?
If you’re the person who knows the local fields and gyms, cheers from the sidelines, knows how important a great coach can be, or simply believes that kids thrive when they have a place to belong and a team to be part of —
we’d love to meet you.
The YMCA of Snohomish County is looking for a Youth Sports Coordinator to help grow YMCA sports opportunities in Arlington and the surrounding community. This is more than a program coordination job. It’s an opportunity to help shape what youth sports can look like in Arlington by listening to families, building relationships, creating opportunities, and getting more kids in the game.
This is a job for someone who wants to be IN the community. You’ll be a visible, welcoming face of the YMCA in Arlington — connecting with families, schools, coaches, volunteers, community organizations and local partners. You’ll work with us to understand what Arlington families want and need, then assist in turning that feedback into meaningful youth sports opportunities.
That might mean helping lead a basketball clinic at a local school, organizing a new league, talking with a parent before practice, recruiting great coaches and volunteers, showing up at a community event, or dreaming up the next sports opportunity that Arlington kids have been asking for.
You don't have to have all the answers. We’re looking for someone who knows how to listen, build relationships, roll up their sleeves and make things happen.
What you’ll do- Build a strong YMCA presence throughout Arlington and surrounding communities by being visible, approachable and engaged.
- Develop genuine relationships with local families and become a trusted resource for youth sports opportunities.
- Represent the YMCA at community events, schools, youth fairs and other local activities.
- Help plan, develop and deliver high-quality youth sports programs that are fun, inclusive and appropriate for different ages and skill levels.
- Lead or assist with practices, clinics, games and events — including instructing, officiating and providing on-site leadership.
- Listen to families and community partners and use their feedback to develop new sports offerings, leagues and clinics.
- Recruit, train, schedule and support instructors, coaches, referees and volunteers.
- Help make YMCA sports accessible to more local families through grassroots outreach and community based programming.
- Promote a culture where every child feels welcome, included and encouraged to participate.
- Monitor participation, manage program details and help ensure programs operate safely, effectively and within budget.
- You genuinely love Arlington and want to invest in your community.
- You believe kids deserve access to positive, affordable opportunities to play sports.
- You have experience working with children, youth programs or sports.
- You know that youth sports are about more than wins and losses — they’re about confidence, friendships, teamwork, belonging and having a place to be.
- You’re comfortable talking with parents, kids, coaches, volunteers, school staff and community partners.
- You’re the kind of person who can walk into a room, introduce yourself and start building relationships.
- You’re willing to try something new, learn from the community and adjust when something isn’t working.
- You can jump in and help when needed — whether that means coaching a clinic, setting up equipment, talking with a family or supporting a game.
- You bring the YMCA’s values of Caring, Honesty,…
