Overview

Bus Driver(s) role at CLE ELUM-ROSLYN SCHOOL DISTRICT for 2025-26 school year. Continuing position. 2 positions available. Open to qualified CERSD applicants May 13-19 2025. Applications from out-of-district will not be considered until May 20. This posting will be open until filled.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keep accurate records of driving time and mileage.
  • Complete all required reports, forms, or records for the district or state.
  • Maintain the condition of the bus; report deficiencies and repair needs to supervisor/mechanic via written work order.
  • Sweep and clean bus daily.
  • Perform pre‑trip inspections: brakes, lights, stop signs, safety devices, warning signal lamps, windshield, hatches, safety lock, emergency door warning systems, oil level, water level, power steering level, fuel, tires, oil pressure, air brake system cycle, first aid kit, fire extinguisher.
  • Notify supervisor of dangerous conditions or unsafe acts.
  • Operate bus in accordance with Washington state laws and policies (OSPI WAC 392-144, RCW 28A.).
  • Maintain control of student passengers and safety.
  • Complete required training programs and courses (OSPI and district).
  • Maintain current first aid, endorsed driver’s license, and current DOT medical certificate signed by authorized DOT examiner.
  • Operate wheelchair lift and assist students on lift bus.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and public.
  • Assist ill or physically impaired students to enter or exit bus through passenger service door.
  • Provide assistance during evacuations or emergencies.
  • Install tire chains (capable to lift 50 pounds) and perform pre‑trip inspections as required.
  • Perform after‑school and sports related trips per seniority.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Transportation Supervisor.
  • Comply with reasonable requests from Transportation Supervisor and district administration.
Additional Duties
  • Support vehicle maintenance (vacuuming, wiping, trash removal, washing).
  • Clean break room area, sweep, take out trash, straighten up; clean restrooms (all
    3), clean toilets and sinks, keep paper towels full, weekly mop.
  • Check‑off sheet signing.
Qualifications
  • High School graduate.
  • At least 21 years old with 5 years of driving experience (WAC ).
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license;
    Class B, CDL with appropriate endorsements.
  • School bus driver authorization issued by OSPI.
  • First aid qualified (8‑hour Red Cross or equivalent).
  • Meet WAC chapter 392-144, 28A‑400, 300‑340 RCW requirements and maintain compliance with state rules.
  • Excellent driving record free of major infractions.
  • Complete 5‑year driver license abstract required by OSPI.
  • Physically able to drive and perform all duties.
  • Provide current valid medical examiner’s certificate from certified CDL medical examiner.
Terms Of Employment / Benefits
  • Contract:

    193 Day Classified Contracted Calendar.
  • Affiliation: PSE Classified.
  • Hours:

    3–4.5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
  • Sick time/Personal Days: up to 12 sick days per school year and up to 3 personal days per year.
  • Union Hourly rate enhancement: credit for college degrees or certifications per PSE contract.
  • Benefits:
    Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB.
  • Retirement: two plan choices with DRS, Plan 2 and 3 (if qualified).
  • Paid Holidays:
    Up to 11 paid holidays each year; start‑date dependent.
  • Hourly Wage:
    Max hourly wage with 25 years of district experience.
Start Date
  • August 27th, 2025 with new hire orientation on August 20th.
