About the Opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Senior or Principal Architectural History Team Lead for our West Region to drive growth and uphold the highest standards of quality. This role will support teams and projects across Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington
.

As a core member of our Cultural Resources program, the Team Lead will collaborate with SWCA managers, directors, and vice presidents on technical and business development initiatives throughout the West, while coordinating with peers in our North and South regions. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership skills to expand SWCA’s architectural history practice across the West. Responsibilities include developing new business, managing large‑scale projects, meeting financial goals, and mentoring others.

• Senior Architectural History Team Lead: 10+ years of relevant experience, including project management; salary range typical for this region is $98,820 – $128,950/year.
• Principal Architectural History Team Lead: 12+ years of relevant experience, including project management; salary range typical for this region is $113,280 – $148,230/year.

• Expand and grow the architectural history practice across strategic markets and client types throughout the West Region through training and mentorship, business development, and strategic hiring.
• Lead the architectural history practice through direct and indirect means (influence) to be a highly effective, collaborative, client service‑oriented element of the business.
• Maintain and improve practice area QA/QC program and ensure effective implementation.
• Identify technical development needs and priorities specific to the region and develop/facilitate trainings and mentorship programs to train staff.
• Work collaboratively with the West leadership team, as well as architectural history teams across SWCA.
• Manage key projects, act as Subject Matter Expert, and maintain annual productivity target of 65% or higher.
• Contribute to national business development efforts in architectural history, historic preservation, and multidisciplinary efforts.
• Support growth and performance initiatives. This includes strategic thought, marketing, and branding activities, pursuit tracking, and sales.
• Drive geographic and market expansion by advising on potential key hires.
• Drive compliance of safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure overall team safety.
