Pay range: $90,000 – $130,000 / year

Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Vice President of Regional Operations and working with the Chief Estimator, the Estimator collaborates on bid and proposal preparation, negotiates contracts with clients, and works closely with design teams. This position is responsible for providing value‑engineering solutions across heavy civil, marine, and underwater disciplines and will provide guidance and training to other estimating personnel.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- At least three years of estimating experience in heavy civil/marine construction.
- Experience with Heavy Bid is a plus.
- Estimating projects with values up to $50 million.
- Experience with Joint Venture pursuits is a plus.
- Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract projects is a plus.
- Working knowledge of standard marine construction practices.
- Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, P6, AutoCAD.
- Strong technical writing skills for proposal preparation.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Independent work ability with strong organization and time‑management.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining customer relationships.
- Proactive problem‑solving and solution‑offering.
- Ability to meet required deadlines.
- Formulate and lead project estimates/proposals with quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Develop project work plans, schedules, and submittals.
- Lead bid kick‑off and board review meetings.
- Perform material take‑offs, organize pre‑bid data, research past costs, and develop construction sequence.
- Coordinate and cultivate strong vendor and subcontractor relationships.
- Perform site visits and investigations as needed.
- Produce pre‑bid construction schedules.
- Attend pre‑job meetings.
- Conduct constructability studies.
- Present estimate quantities, rationale, and scheme to management during bid reviews.
- Organize and conduct handoff of project to operations if awarded.
- Actively participate in weekly job progress meetings with operations, accounting, and field staff.
- Lead project hand‑off meetings with key operational staff.
- Identify project risks and potential contingencies.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate contents.
- Perform additional assignments per Management’s direction.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Outdoor work in various temperatures and conditions.
- Wearing various PPE (respirators, fall protection, etc.).
- Travel on land, water, and aircraft.
- Sitting and standing for several hours at a time.
- Lift, climb, pull, push, and squat for various periods.
- $90,000 – $130,000 per year – Pay commensurate with experience.
