Position Details- Position Title: Lead Male Counselor
- Corps/Department: Salvation Army, King’s Lake Camp
- Reports To: Summer Camp Director
- FLSA Status: Temporary, Full-time;
Exempt - Dates of Employment: Summer 2026
Position will reside at Kings Lake Camp Site, providing free housing and meals. Responsibilities include leadership and care for a group of 6-10 campers, ensuring their safety, health, and program involvement through the camp experience. Pay is $11.20 per hour, totaling $448.00 weekly, with travel, room, and board covered.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army.
- Prior camp work experience preferred.
- Ability to work with youths aged 7 years and older.
- Efficient duty performance and good judgment.
- Must stay at camp during session.
- One-time travel expense to and from camp is covered.
- Provide leadership and guidance to counselors.
- Lead and care for a group of 6-10 campers.
- Guide campers through all program components.
- Supervise groups during meal times.
- Oversee daily cleanup of cabin living area.
- Conduct daily devotions for camper groups.
- Accompany groups to all camp-related activities.
- Complete related forms: camper, program evaluation, health documentation.
- Assist in all camp program activities as directed.
- Participate in camp programs and spiritual formation.
- Ensure camper respect for property, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and campers.
- Enforce camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
- Provide supervision ensuring physical and emotional safety.
- Maintain cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
- Assist with end‑of‑session cleanup.
- Complete other assigned duties.
Complete the online course for this area and pass required background checks.
Work EnvironmentWork both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, with low to moderate noise. May involve wet weather and woodland settings.
Physical Demands- Ability to perform movements: sit, walk, stand, bend, climb, kneel, twist, grip, reach, handle, push, pull.
- Normal vision and hearing, with corrective devices if needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., with assistance if necessary.

Language SkillsAbility to understand and give written and oral instructions, comfortable working with diverse individuals, and capable of ordinary and telephone conversation.
