Veterinary Assistant

VCA Big Lake Animal Hospital, located on the out skirts of Wasilla, AK. We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our 3-doctor General Practice!

We need an up-beat friendly Veterinary Assistant who would like to provide excellent patient care with a focus on wellness and client education. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for preparing exam rooms for the doctors and assisting in providing education and support to the clients.

Full time opportunity. Flexible 4/10 schedule. We are open Monday‑Saturday, 8am‑6pm, some Saturdays required.

$20 – $24 / hr, negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

• Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
• Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
• Filling prescriptions (as by law).
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Maintaining medical records.
• Working in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team.
• Completing estimates and basic record‑keeping.
• Assisting our wonderful Doctor and Technician staff as needed.
• Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
