Responsibilities
- To be responsible for all behavioral health (clinical, treatment, diagnostic, medical, substance abuse, mental health and/or psychiatric) services at Wellmore Behavioral Health. This will include direct services in the care and oversight of Medication Assisted Treatment services.
- To provide on‑going supervision, consultation and oversight of all agency behavioral health services.
- To implement and assist in the development of clinical programming at Wellmore Behavioral Health.
- To participate in the on‑going development and implementation of procedures for assessing and maintaining quality clinical care.
- To provide direct services including but not limited to: psychiatric evaluation and/or diagnostic assessment; medication therapy; medication tracking & follow‑up; parent training & guidance; staff & community consultation; crisis intervention and collaboration with other.
- To carry a cell phone and be available 24 hours a day to respond to calls for consultation by Clinic staff (as designated by the Medical Director) either by phone or in person.
- To complete required insurance and third‑party reimbursement paperwork (certification and other) which assists the Clinic in collecting fees for services.
- To work collaboratively as a member of a team with other professionals and concerned parties involved in the Clinic cases (especially area physicians, DCF staff and educators).
- To provide consultation to outside agencies upon request or assignment.
- To represent the agency at professional activities and functions.
- Maintain confidential and/or any other required program documents.
- Other such duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Must have graduated from an accredited school of medicine, hold a license to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut and have successfully completed an approved psychiatry training program.
Certification in adult, child or adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology is preferred.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
Must be capable of working as a part of a team and be able to effectively communicate with both families and professionals (in writing and verbally).
ExperienceTwo to five years post‑fellowship experience in clinical and consultative work is required.
Experience in program development, collaboration or liaison work with pediatric, family practice and/or other medical and mental health disciplines is desirable.
Two to five years clinical experience working with children, adolescents and/or adults is required.
Prior experience in a child guidance clinic, community mental health center or substance abuse center is preferred.
Experience working with ethnically diverse populations is also preferred.
Licensure / Certification / RegistrationValid driver’s license with good driving record.
CPR and first‑aid.
Continued CompetencyMust maintain a satisfactory performance evaluation.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write clear, accurate and logical routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
