Technical Education Teacher (Information Technology) - High School
Reports To:
Principal or higher grade administrative official.
Department:
Teaching and Learning.
Accountable for teaching occupational, career, technical, or vocational subjects as defined by applicable laws and regulations at district schools.
Minimum Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate and Technical Education, PK-12 (047) endorsement(s).
- Current Motor Vehicle operator’s license may be required.
- Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas for which the teacher is responsible.
- Knowledge of child development, classroom management techniques, instructional technologies.
- Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Scientific Research Based Interventions (SRBI).
- Skill in classroom management and organization; effective communication orally and in writing; ability to evaluate student performance; ability to multi-task and be flexible.
- May direct the work of paraprofessionals.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varied student needs and interests.
- Administer tests to assess educational needs or progress.
- Advise students on academic or career matters.
- Apply multiple teaching methods; assign and grade class work and homework.
- Assist students with special educational needs; attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to develop, evaluate, and revise school programs; develop instructional objectives; develop programs for students with special needs.
- Document lesson plans; maintain accurate student records; plan and conduct activities for balanced program of instruction.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and guide students in learning from those activities.
- Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations and to teach students to use technology.
- Perform related duties as required.
Must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, visual and auditory acuity and maintain such physical fitness. A physical examination may be required.
