Position: SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER (long term sub)

ACES Chase Academy Magnet School is seeking a dedicated and passionate long-term substitute middle school Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering academic growth and social development in middle school students. You will have the opportunity to inspire young minds, create engaging learning experiences, and contribute to a positive school culture.

Responsibilities
  • Curriculum:
    Implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives. Adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Effective Instruction:
    Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and active participation. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Assessment and Feedback:
    Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Classroom Management:
    Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and classroom routines. Leverage restorative practices, where appropriate.
  • Parent and Community Engagement:
    Foster open communication with families through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events. Engage with the local community to enhance the social studies program.
  • Professional Development:
    Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices in social studies education. Attend professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work collaboratively with colleagues, department members, and administrators to align curriculum, share resources, and maintain a positive school culture.
Qualifications
  • Valid Connecticut 026 History & Social Studies, 4–12 certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Previous teaching experience in middle school settings is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of social studies content, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
