Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering
- 7+ years in chemical engineering, with a strong background in process scale-up and facility design
- Experience with P&IDs - Must be able to design, read and create themselves
- Strong background in scaling up facilities (R&D to Manufacturing)
What will you be doing?
- Support the design, development, and scale-up of chemical processes from lab → pilot → full-scale manufacturing, with a strong focus on reaction chemistry, process control, and safety.
- Develop and maintain accurate, detailed Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for new processes and existing plant systems.
- Design, execute, and analyze pilot-plant trials to validate new technologies and drive continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues to improve yield, consistency, quality, and throughput.
- Partner closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and manufacturability of new products.
- Apply deep chemical engineering knowledge to create safe, scalable, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable processes.
- Use process simulation/modeling software and statistical process control (SPC) tools to predict performance and optimize operations.
- Lead root-cause investigations and implement robust corrective/preventive actions for process deviations.
- Drive capital projects from concept through commissioning, including equipment specification, HAZOP participation, and startup support.
- Champion safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, PSM/RMP as applicable) and promote a strong safety culture.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians; author technical reports, validation protocols, SOPs, and batch records.
- Support global projects and initiatives as needed.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related field) required;
Master’s degree strongly preferred. - 5+ years of hands-on chemical process development/scale-up experience in a manufacturing environment (2+ years with a Master’s degree).
- Proven expertise in reaction chemistry, process control, and complex troubleshooting in chemical plants.
- Strong, demonstrated experience creating, reviewing, and red-lining P&IDs (required).
- Track record of successful technology transfer and capital project leadership.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
