Please Note: This position requires 24-hour on-call status with the possibility of emergency activation. It includes assignment of a state vehicle to respond to critical incidents, reporting to duty during inclement weather to local, state, or other incident command posts as needed, and other duties as assigned.

Full-time, with standard hours M-F first shift; schedule may fluctuate due to 24-hour on-call duties supporting regional emergency management and CT Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations.

The Region 5 Coordinator is one of five DEMHS Regional Coordinators providing critical public safety support to municipalities and the Governor's State Emergency Operations Center as needed.
In this role, you will be part of the DEMHS Operations and Logistics team, working with other state agencies and teams to support emergency management activities including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- local emergency operations planning
- coordination of mutual aid
- assisting municipalities with Federal Emergency Management and Homeland Security funding
- serving as the primary contact for resource requests during emergencies, and more!
DEMHS Region 5 covers 43 municipalities in northwestern Connecticut, including urban centers like Waterbury and Danbury, and rural areas in Litchfield County, with a total population of approximately 599,573 and land area of 1,418 sq. miles. The region's Regional Emergency Planning Team (REPT) coordinates all regional activities.
