Scope of Position:

Under the supervision of the Senior US Technologist, the Assistant Director of Radiology, and the Radiologist, performs various Ultrasound exams.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify and prepare patients for Ultrasound exams.
  • Obtain optimal Ultrasound images.
  • Utilize appropriate equipment and systems such as Cerner, HIS, RIS, and PACS.
  • Assist physicians with biopsies, aspirations, transvaginal exams, OR exams, and other procedures.
  • Maintain records of all Ultrasound exams.
  • Ensure Ultrasound equipment and rooms are clean and in good condition, following safety protocols.
  • Complete required competencies and maintain inventory.
  • Prioritize and coordinate in-house and outpatient requests.
  • Ensure patient safety, privacy, and well-being at all times.
  • Maintain accreditation with ACR standards.
  • Instruct Ultrasound students in clinical procedures.
  • Adhere to radiation protection standards and wear appropriate protection gear.
  • Properly disinfect probes according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to diagnostic Ultrasound.
  • Proficiency in Ultrasound techniques and procedures.
  • Operation knowledge of Ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to make technical decisions for accurate diagnoses.
  • Effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Understanding of blood borne pathogens and safety precautions.
  • Physical ability to lift, pull, push, stand, and walk.
  • Graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Sonography program approved by the American College of Radiology.
  • Certification from the American Society for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS or equivalent).
  • Maintain qualifications per accreditation and continuing education requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with hospital systems.
