UCC Crisis Clinician (Full Time) at Wellmore Behavioral Health
The Urgent Crisis Center (UCC) is a behavioral health urgent care center that provides crisis evaluation, de‑escalation, and community coordination of care for children and youth experiencing a behavioral or psychiatric crisis. All evaluations, assessments, safety planning, and initial recommendations for follow‑up care must occur within 24 hours. Staff are required to work their assigned schedule but may be asked to shift or alter it in response to high workflow periods.
All clinicians work a minimum of two agency‑observed holidays each calendar year.
The Crisis Intervention Clinician is responsible for direct services with children, adolescents, and their families, including crisis evaluation/assessment, coordination of care with existing providers, case and care management, brief intensive therapies, de‑escalation, record keeping, and collaboration with other professionals, team members, and community services (including consultation and/or community or school placements).
Schedule options for this full‑time position include:
- Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Monday to Friday daytime hours with one shift ending at 6 p.m.
- Wednesday – Friday blended 12‑hour shifts and a single 16‑hour shift.
Qualifications
- Maintain utmost confidentiality of agency and client matters.
- Show clinical knowledge and expertise in crisis intervention.
- Demonstrate knowledge of populations served, including bilingual and bicultural needs.
- Work effectively as part of a team and communicate with families and professionals in writing and verbally.
- Comfort with navigating and documenting within an electronic health record and using communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
- Work a flexible schedule that meets UCC program needs.
- Understand diverse cultural communities prominent in Greater Waterbury, Danbury, and Torrington areas.
- Bi‑lingual Spanish‑English preferred.
Education & Experience
A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related human services field with at least a one‑year clinical internship working with children and/or adolescents or families is required. Two years’ post‑graduate clinical experience working with children, adolescents, or families is preferred. Experience in family therapies and family systems theory and practice is also preferred.
Licensure / Certification / Registration
- Active CT license as a mental health provider at the associate level (LMSW, LPCA, LMFTA) is required.
- Full clinical CT licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) is preferred.
Valid driver’s license required, reliable transportation, and valid auto insurance are required.
