We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Secretary to join our dedicated team. If you have a passion for patient care and excellent organizational skills, we invite you to apply! The front desk role is essential in the management of the patient process and is a liaison between the clinician, referring specialist, and the patient. The chosen employee must simultaneously maintain the waiting room, assist patients and clinicians on an individual basis and manage referrals, etc.
The chosen front desk employee will also rotate between back‑end duties and phones.
- Greet patients warmly and provide a friendly, professional atmosphere in the reception area.
- Register new patients, collect personal and insurance information, and verify existing patient data.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow‑up visits, and tests with accuracy and efficiency.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and assist with appointment rescheduling as needed.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure the smooth flow of patient visits.
- Handle patient check‑ins and check‑outs and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Process insurance claims and assist patients with billing inquiries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality is always maintained.
- Collaborate with other office staff to enhance the overall patient experience.
- Proven experience in a similar role in a healthcare setting.
- Experience as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Call Center/Customer service, pharmacy or related preferred.
- Prior EMR/EHR experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, and electronic health records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage a busy front desk efficiently.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and basic software applications.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in patient data entry and scheduling.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm & Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm (36 hours per week)
Pay: $19 - $22/hr based on related healthcare experience. Pay cycle - weekly. Medical, dental & vision benefits offered.
