Overview
The Residential Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and progress of clients and their children in our Women & Children’s Program. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this role supports clients in achieving their recovery and parenting goals through daily supervision, transportation, childcare, group facilitation, and supportive interventions. This position is essential to the smooth operation of the residential component of the program.
Key Responsibilities- Supervision & Safety:
- Monitor clients and their children during shifts to ensure safety and program compliance.
- Oversee client routines, including daily living activities (ADLs), room checks, and medication self-administration (under nursing guidance).
- Supervise smoke breaks, conduct client counts, and ensure safe sleep practices.
- Perform random room and bag searches upon client returns from passes or appointments.
- Transportation & Appointments:
- Provide safe transport for clients and their children to medical and other scheduled appointments using an agency vehicle.
- Supervise clients off-site during these outings when appropriate.
- Childcare & Support:
- Provide on-site childcare during client participation in therapeutic activities.
- Engage children in age-appropriate play and learning.
- Group Facilitation:
- Lead psycho-educational groups focused on topics such as parenting, household management, budgeting, job readiness, and basic life skills.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, and observations regarding client behavior and program participation.
- Administer supervised drug screenings and communicate results and concerns to the clinical team.
- Household Support:
- Assist clients with chores, including meal preparation in compliance with Department of Public Health standards.
- Team Participation:
- Attend supervision, team meetings, trainings, and agency work groups as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.
- Ability to form positive, professional relationships with clients and their children.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and able to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency shifts.
- Comfortable with electronic documentation and basic computer programs (MS Outlook/Windows).
- Reliable, accountable, and customer-service focused.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Associate’s degree or two years of college in Human Services preferred.
- Experience working in residential settings or with similar populations strongly preferred.
- Relevant training (preferred but not required): ASAM Criteria, co-occurring disorders, naloxone administration.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs, sit, stand, and lift as needed.
- Requires vision and hearing ability sufficient to observe client behavior and respond appropriately.
