The key responsibilities of a CNC Machine Technician include:
Requirements:
Machine Setup:
Preparing and setting up the CNC machines for operation. This involves installing and adjusting tools, dies, and other components as per the specifications of the job.
- Programming:
Inputting or editing machine code to dictate the machine's actions. Technicians often use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to develop and modify these programs. - Operation:
Operating the CNC machinery to produce parts. This includes starting the machine, monitoring its operations, and making adjustments as necessary to ensure product quality. - Quality Control:
Inspecting and measuring finished products to ensure they meet specifications. This often involves using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers. - Maintenance:
Performing routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and making minor repairs to keep them running efficiently. - Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and fixing problems with CNC machines, which may involve working with engineers or other specialists. - Safety Compliance:
Ensuring that all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. - Collaboration:
Working closely with other manufacturing personnel, such as engineers, production staff, and other technicians, to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality. - Continuous Learning:
Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and advancements in CNC machinery and programming techniques.
Requirements
- Technical
Skills: - Proficiency in operating CNC machines, including understanding G-code and M-code.
- Knowledge of machine setup, calibration, and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Experience:
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines, either from previous employment or from training programs.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or software issues in CNC machinery.
- Personal Attributes and Abilities:

- Good problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.
