Overview
Children in Placement is a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been helping the children of Connecticut since 1979. We strive to be Connecticut’s recognized leader and, in this role, bring awareness, partnerships, resources and systemic policy changes supporting children and youth in accessing the supports they need to develop and eventually become successful adults. Children in Placement is a non profit agency working with local volunteers throughout Connecticut to advocate for abused and neglected children in the child welfare system.
YouthMentors Responsibilities
- Aid youth ages 13–24 who have been in foster care without a permanent placement, with multiple placements, or who are aging out, focusing on positive youth development and the development of core competencies (decision making, problem solving, how to access services).
- Provide a stable adult to give guidance and be a positive role model.
- Connect youth with clinical and support services and serve as a source of support and guidance.
- Attend permanency planning meetings and vital school/educational meetings to ensure the youth’s needs are being met.
